This IS Santa Barbara County Pinot! First taste was a big burst of fruit. Not too sweet, not simple and unsophisticated, not a jammy Zin bomb, mind you. Instead, more like a zing of bright, pure, winey fruit. Remarkable and memorable. We had the 2022 vintage in a magnum bottle so perhaps that helped preserve its freshness and purity. We enjoyed this Big Mama at the Palm Restaurant in downtown LA, celebrating my daughter Rachel’s graduation from UCLA Law School. Congratulations, Rachel! — 8 months ago
Sweet, light, burst of cherry, with slightly bitter aftertaste. Goes well with classic Italian fare (we paired with spaghetti and Turkey meatballs). — 2 years ago
Pours deep rich red. Initial mild dark fruit quickly changes to a quick burst of baking spices and cherries and then changes to a dryness of plums. Some soft tannins on the back. Love the changing layers. — 3 months ago
Pale golden color. Old citrus and stone fruit in the nose as well as almond and floral notes. Very zippy and fresh on the pallet with a burst of fruit lemon and lime being the main on the front with a mineral pop rocks style and floral middle with a rosemary and fern finish. Long finish. — 8 months ago
The 2021 Nero d'Avola punches well above its price point with a burst of lavender, violet and blackberry on the nose. This is soft textured yet juicy to the core, with depths of sweet cherry offset by vibrant acidity. The 2021 finishes classically dry with a subtle tug of dusty tannins. $15.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, January 2023) — 2 years ago
Pale lemon. One the nose- apple, pear, peach, citrus, and a grassy/herbaceous note that I can’t put my finger on. Burst of grapefruit and pineapple with some minerality on the palate. Medium body. Nice, zesty acidity. Was a bit tight at first out of the bottle. Best to let it breathe a bit and losen up some. Fun and cheeky wine! — 7 months ago
Apple cider vinegar, cloud burst, 00 pizza flour. Slight funk $35 waves. — a year ago
The 2021 Friulano is a bit backward in the glass, peppery and floral with just a hint of green apple. It's soothingly round and pliant with a burst of zesty acidity and citrus tones that add lovely contrast. The 2021 finishes with sweet spice and sour melon notes, leaving the palate thirsting for more. This is a total pleasure on the palate, but make sure to give it some air to open up aromatically. Tasty alone and refreshing with food, a bold and uncomplicated rioja. A burst of tart raspberries at first, not too sweet, fading to a juicy, lingering finish. The texture is medium-thin but with a creamy softness. Excellent value. — 3 months ago
