Berri Barolo Nebbiolo 2019

Trediberri: Popped and poured; enjoyed over two days. Progressive evolution throughout but consistently enjoyable after about 30min of air. My notes reflect the full progression. The 2019 Barolo “Berri” pours a bright garnet with a transparent core. Medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. No signs of sediment or gas. On the nose, intensely gorgeous aromas raspberries, dark cherries, roses, tar, orange rind, and dried herbs. On the palate, high tannin, medium+ acid, and medium+ alcohol. Confirming the notes from the nose. The fruit is tart, crunchy, fresh and the finish is very long and savory. With air, this seems to build some weight. This is really right up my alley and quite impressive. If this is representative of why there is increasingly more interest in the Berri cru, I can certainly understand why. There is quite a lot to like. There is freshness and an underlying confidence/power that is beguiling. Traditionalist hearts will pitter patter. Drink now with patience or reap an even more handsome reward down the line. This should drink very well through 2040 and beyond. — 8 months ago

Rocche dell'Annunziata Barolo Nebbiolo 2019

Immediately sold after having a taste of Nicola Oberto’s gorgeous 2018 Berri, 2019 is even better and the ‘Grand Cru’ Rocche dell'Annunziata is total stunner tonight, perfumed, floral and elegant, wafting from the glass with incense, roses, exotic spices and dark cherries. The palate is impeccably structured, detailed and vibrant with a lasting mineral finish with fine grained tannins. A fabulous young Barolo! — a year ago

Langhe Nebbiolo 2021

Delectable Wine

The 2021 Langhe Nebbiolo is fabulous. Crushed berries, spice, mint, dried rose petal and licorice are beautifully delineated. The purity of the flavors is remarkable. Vineyard sites are Berri (35%), plus non-estate vineyards in Levice, Alta Langa (60% - leased) and Monticello d'Alba, Roero (5% - purchased fruit). The 2021 was vinified and aged entirely in cement, and yet it has plenty of structure. It is a terrific choice for readers on a budget, or even readers not on a budget! Boschi di Berri Dolcetto d'Alba 1991

Pre-phylloxera vines over 100 years old. Was found at the warehouse. Decanted and changed super fast. Practically every sip was delicious. Def not in the best places but super interesting nonetheless. — 5 years ago

South Eastern Australia Merlot

Very smooth. Slight aroma of toffee, tastes of overripe red fruit. Very easily drinkable, not too sweet and not too dry. — 6 years ago
