Wow!!! Tasted this years ago at industry tasting at Chateau Boswell in Napa: it’s better than I remember. Arietta, Bevan, Barbour, Realm...you name it, they were there. I thought CORRA was the “Best of Show”!!! — 7 years ago
This is their first release. Big round flavors throughout. This is a new wine to look out for. Their best barrel selection wine is even more spectacular. Philippe Melka and his team are making great wine with this project. Barbour farms these grapes. — 7 years ago
This wine is a Hundred Acre Ark. Not sure why vinous is having such a hard time identifying. Does not even come up on the search??? This followed the ‘02 Keenan Reserve and ‘05 Barbour. Wow what a night cap!! It is deserving of its 100 point rating. — 2 years ago
Post SteakTRB night cap, I think I’m dehydrated now
Winery notes,
VARIETAL: 100% CHENIN BLANC
This wine precisely expresses an electric fruit energy framed by a structural minerality, crystalline acidity and pleasing complex spice components inherent to the varietal. It is a very complete wine that doesn’t emphasize one component over the others, but rather a cohesive idea that is pure magic in the glass. The hue of the wine can best be described as pale-yellow gold. The exotic array of aromas suggest lychee, peach blossom, brass and cumin dust. The mouth-watering palate experience is saturated with a gem-like expression of notes that include lemon oil, green mango, crushed rock, and white lilac.

The Amizetta property is a steep and rocky 40 acre parcel with southern facing slopes at an elevation of 1,000’ situated between Pritchard Hill and Howell Mountain in the Conn Valley region of Napa Valley. The vineyards are farmed by Jim Barbour. Edward Clark is the winemaker, with Chuck Wagner and Rick Forman consulting. After seeing the aerial view of the vineyard I had to taste this... the terracing is impressive. It needs needs about 30-45 minutes to open up and fully show off its lush and opulent style, which features crème de cassis, currant, blackberry, mocha, vanilla, and charcoal, with some faint herbaceousness. If this doesn’t already scream crowd-pleaser, then the round and silky mouthfeel will certainly seal the deal. — 7 years ago
Really really nice. Silky smooth, like Barbour, Yount Ridge, and Sherwin Family. $55 at OWC. — 4 years ago
The 2016 Zakin Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is an absolutely brilliant wine that was sourced from the Zakin’s southwest facing property on Howell Mountain, situated between 1,250 and 1,450 feet. The vineyard consists of three unique blocks: The Pool Block, The Upper Vineyard, and the Back Blocks, which are managed by Jim Barbour. The wine itself is simply fantastic, as it slowly begins to unwind in the glass it releases stunning aromas ripe cherries, red/dark currants, intense florals and dried spices which are underlined by a light cedar note and a lovely mineral character of crushed stones and hints of graphite dust. On the palate this medium to full-bodied red shows wonderful elegance and vibrancy, with a bright core of beautifully ripe red and dark currants, fresh florals and minerals that are framed by gorgeous velvety tannins. It continues to impress with its remarkable structure, as it all comes together seamlessly with wonderful focus and balance leading up to the precise finish that displays tremendous length. The Zakin’s along with winemaker Philip Melka and his team have crafted an utterly captivating wine, which was built to age and should continue to evolve marvelously for many years to come. — 5 years ago

Bright red fruit. Kept waiting for it to open up and even after a couple hours it hadn’t. Perhaps it still needs many more years to mature but I was expecting a bit more at this point. — 3 months ago
