Amizetta Vineyards
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
The Amizetta property is a steep and rocky 40 acre parcel with southern facing slopes at an elevation of 1,000’ situated between Pritchard Hill and Howell Mountain in the Conn Valley region of Napa Valley. The vineyards are farmed by Jim Barbour. Edward Clark is the winemaker, with Chuck Wagner and Rick Forman consulting. After seeing the aerial view of the vineyard I had to taste this... the terracing is impressive. It needs needs about 30-45 minutes to open up and fully show off its lush and opulent style, which features crème de cassis, currant, blackberry, mocha, vanilla, and charcoal, with some faint herbaceousness. If this doesn’t already scream crowd-pleaser, then the round and silky mouthfeel will certainly seal the deal.

1 person found it helpfulDec 11th, 2017Probably would've been better in 8-10 years but just had to open it soon to get a lesson about a young wine. Fabulous complexity....layered well and similar to the French style in the fact that it has more earth and mineral notes to it. Vanilla creaminess and heavy bodied. $75 value but for that price, I've had way better. Proof that cost means jack squat unless you're a pretentious snob. 😁

Apr 6th, 2016The top red wine at this year's event - not my style. Big fruit, 15% alc. Great red fruit flavors -popular style BTW - but I prefer a Cab with a more distinct sense of place. Ripeness is easy!

May 17th, 2015An amazingly good wine. This wine comes from one of my favorite wineries in Napa. Terraced vineyards overlooking the north end of Lake Hennessey. Great nose of dark fruit and maybe a little tobacco. Dark garnet color. On the palate I get some dark currants, blackberries, caramel and mocha. Tannins are nicely integrated but still show up in a very supple way. The finish is long lasting and carries the dark fruit tones. I love this wine.

Sep 25th, 2018Absolutely love Amizetta, great winery above Lake Hennesy and just a hair too low to be called a Howell Mountain. The Clark family produce phenomenal cabernets year after year. This particular vintage is young but delivers a delicious fruity flavor with an oaky, vanilla spice on the nose. The tannins mellow drastically with aeration and time. I personally have a hard time waiting for that first glass, so by the second or third, it is right on time. Deep red bordering on purple make it seductive in a glass.

Nov 26th, 2016My kind of cab. Beautiful aromas of flowers, dark fruit and spice. Deep dark fruit, vanilla and licorice on the palate. Very well structured and balanced. Would love to try this in 10 years but there is no way I can sit on a bottle of this that long. One of my favorite vineyards in Napa with a great family that owns it and perhaps the best view in the county as well.

Dec 8th, 2015Enjoyed reserve more at vineyard. Fruity finish for me, but still an amazing wine.
