This wine is from a tiny family farm on Terceira island in the Azores. They provide about 1000l per year. It is clearly an island wine with all the usual minerality that you expect from a wine from the azores but it is a bit more complex than most. The beautiful golden color is achieved by oxidation for a few hours before bottling the wine. As far as I know, this wine is only available on the island and even here only in very few places. So I recommend getting it if you have the chance. Also visit the vinery if you can. The family is super nice and they have plenty more things to try out. — 6 months ago

Brilliant white wine from Pico island in the Azores.
Cerca dos Frades Verdelho by Paulo Machado speaks to the terroir of this UNESCO World Heritage Site in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. It’s salty and honied with bursts of grapefruit acidity. The wine is made with the Verdelho grape and partially aged in old French oak, adding a roundness and complexity. — 21 days ago
