Deep ruby coloration. No translucency. In the nose, cherry, blackberry, oak and vanilla. On the palate, black cherry, blueberry, cassis, pepper, graphite, chocolate and vanilla. Jammy delicious fruit. Lush mouthfeel. Robust and smooth. Tannins still strong and active but balanced and not overpowering. Medium to longer finish. — 5 months ago
Light fruity nose, transparent purple iwhen pouring but deep purple on glas - darker than most Pinots. Medium body and red fruit flavors. Excellent. — 6 months ago
End of an era, however brief…August Recher Pinot (vintage 2021) by Robert Mueller is the among the last of Mueller Wine’s fine Pinots of the region Russian River, CA…perfect balance, full-bodied, full-flavored dark berry…top of class at any price. Ending his wine clubs and tasting rooms, Mueller sold the winery and facilities, vineyards - not the brand - to a so far unannounced name…at least per Google. The new adventure will certainly continue production but who knows if a superlative Mueller-like wine will result. Que sera’… — 5 months ago
Sebastiani Cab started my wine journey circa vintage 1993. Still a great wine! — 6 months ago
The 2005 Palmer, picked from September 9 to October 10, remains deep in color. It has a lovely, intense bouquet with blackcurrant pastilles, raspberry, violet and juniper. It blossoms in the glass, gaining vigor. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, structured and dense, strangely Pomerol-like in style, with touches of black pepper and truffle furnishing the finish. Robust and muscular, it lacks a bit of flair and precision (like many wines of this vintage). I would afford this another couple of years in the cellar. Tasted at the Palmer vertical at the château.
