Second bottle of this in the past year. It’s deep, complex, and drinking really well now. A little note of barnyard adds a dimensional to the deep ripe fruit and deep granite on the nose. It’s dry and very deep on the palate. Deep savory and mineral notes are prominent, nicely augmenting the dark fruit. Nice but soft acids. A teensy little bit drying on the finish, so this is definitely designed for the table, where it will shine with stews and braises and pasta and . . . — 8 months ago

This is the Aloxe-Corton Blanc. (@Delectable Wine has misidentified 3 of the last 4 wines I’ve posted, and doesn’t have the actual wine listed when I search. 😠). Entirely from the lieu-dit Les Caillettes. Notes to follow.
OK, I was cooking when I opened it, so let it sit until I was finished stirring the risotto. Good thing I let it sit, because it was giving nothing away initially. As it warms and airs, there are subtle and enticing scents of crushed limestone, straw, apple and almost ripe peach. Silky soft textured, the palate is subtle with light buttery notes, gravel and crushed stone. Some very subtle orchard fruit. Very distinctive. — 2 months ago

Bright, clean , drinks youthful. No pyrazines to speak of. Maybe in a slightly dumb/closed phase. Will revisit tomorrow. Edit/ day two, now it’s expressive. Pyrazines coming through. This is a delicate wine. Versatile with food. Excellent purity. — 7 months ago

I’m a huge fan of Loire Cab Franc and this wine is deep and rich. Forest floor and coffee notes on the palate. Black lush fruits. Very balanced and finessed. One of my favorite Saumur wines!!! — a year ago
Looked a little oxi when first opened, but it seemed to pull back in the glass. Some honey still, but the core of lemon fruit was so intense - lemon curd and peel all the way. White florals, musky wood, and a touch of spice too. Super salty finish and an acidity that keeps growing. Tasty! — 3 years ago

Not sure if this is the correct domaine because it says Pierre and Claire Chapuis, not Maurice and Anne-Marie. Love the deeply sappy cherry fruit and loamy, limestoney earthiness on the nose. On the palate, the ripe fruit is almost overwhelming. But there is substantial stony minerality behind it. The tannins are there, but they’re buried under the tsunami of fruit. Tightens up a little at the end of the finish. This wine is on the hedonistic end of the spectrum for sure. Acids a tad low and not a ton of complexity, but lots of bang for the Burgundian buck. — 7 days ago
