Tench Vineyard EE Red Blend 2016

Here’s Jeb Dunnuck’s Review:
RATING 98 Points/TASTING DATE/

North Coast Part 1: Napa Valley’s Incredible 2016s…
“The 2016 Tench Vineyard EE Red Wine checks in as a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Merlot, which is the smallest amount of Cabernet Franc to date. Brought up in new barrels, it has gorgeous blue fruits, violets, spring flowers, and damp earth. Medium to full-bodied, elegant, and just about as seamless and silky as it gets, this is a magical wine to drink over the coming 15 years or more.”

The Tench slightly better than the Sugarloaf. But, did show some light alcohol burn. — 3 months ago

Ontogeny Oakville Red Wine 2017

Deep purple in color with a short purplish rim.

Beautiful nose with lots of chocolates and light earth notes.

Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity.

Dry and very fruity on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing black currants, cooked plums, cedar, tobacco, vanilla, dried figs, raisins, licorice, light earth, peppercorn, cola, spices and dark chocolates.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and crushed peppercorn.

This is a gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley. Big and bold. Spicy and tangy. Showing nice complexity at this point.

This 6 year old is drinking beautifully now. Rich yet elegant. Extracted and easy drinking. Well balanced and really delicious.

A beautiful surprise. I had the 2016 a few years ago, and this is drinking much better now. I did not expect it from the 2017 vintage.

Good right out of the bottle, and good by itself as a sipping wine. Robert Parker 93 points.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

15.2% alcohol by volume.

94 points.

$110.

I haven’t really enjoyed this producer due to how much ABV it shows, This was the first time it didn’t burn the back of my throat. Still big and dark. It’s a 30 plus year wine. — 3 months ago

Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2013

Dark ruby with near opaque core; slightly glass clinging. Big abundant nose of black cherry jam and red apple peel. Full bodied palate echoes the nose adding a sweet-ish earthy marzipan element. Brief hint of oak st the beginning (per my dining partner). Very low tannins. Medium acidity. Finish is moderately long. Excellent food Pinot Noir from the king of big boned reds. — 5 months ago
