Classic Gueuze Lambic 2017

Happy belated Zwanze Day! Celebrating with this 2017 bottling of Cantillon’s Classic Gueuze. Over the years, I have drifted to be a little more fond of 3 Fonteinen but I’m really splitting hairs. This is world class.

Popped and poured; crushed in 30min after doing the first yard work of 2024 and getting the hops trained to the trellis. The gueuze pours a brilliant golden color with a persistent head. On the nose, mostly tasty stone fruits: apricots, peach, kumquat, horse blanket, stony minerals. On the palate, the gueuze is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and refreshing. Drink now.

Very aromatic nose. Slight citrus. Round and balanced. Great choice at Chez Richard in Brussels. — a year ago

Drank after a Boon Geueze (which I enjoyed) and it was far better, more refined and delectable. — 4 years ago

An odd one for sure this year. Aged in barrel on sea lettuce, bottled, and then aged further underwater. Brine, iodine, and a strawberry like fruitiness — 3 days ago

Avec Les Bon Veux Saison Malt

Amazing that this is 9.5% because it's so easy to drink a 750mL bottle. It really is wine quality. I have a hard time identifying the nose on beers but it reminds me of being inside the cow feed silo as a kid. It smells like late summer harvest left to ferment.
It's a very clean taste of...... Wheat grass?

Saint Lamvinus Lambic 2021

Unbelievable. First time. So complex, so funky, so smooth, so fruity, it’s almost chewable. Totally meets expectations. One of the best beers in the world. As it warms and evolves, the amount of fruit is bonkers. Berries, plums, apples, grapes, juniper. Wow!!! Bottled 12/06/21 — 8 months ago
