Eminence Sylvaner 2021

Just a lovely, complex Sylvaner, great acidity, some nice slight honeyed notes to the layered fruit, even though this cannot have Grand Cru on the label because the grape is Sylvaner, the juice is from fruit grown on Zinnkoepfle, a Grand Cru vineyard that Agathe farms. — 2 days ago

Sylvaner is one of the few “second tier” varieties that sometimes gives me a thrill. (I’ve yet to taste an Aligote that had that effect on me, for instance.)

@Tom Casagrande, she makes another Sylvaner from another Alsatian vineyard that is quite good, but not at this level. I have read that she loves Sylvaner, having grown up eating berries while helping her grandparents tend the Zinnkoepfle Grand Cru vineyard!!

Lutzeltal Sylvaner 2021

Spicy, floral, quite dry, high acid Sylvaner, medium-bodied, medium-long finish, excellent with some fresh Dungeness crab cakes made by a fish market/restaurant in Newport, Oregon called Local Ocean Seafood!! — 8 months ago

@Ira Schwartz, I realized last night that there is no DM functionality, sorry @Tom Casagrande about that.

Bollenberg Musagète Alsace Muscat 2022

This Vin Doux works well with some cherry pie, I’d guess this is 2% or so R.S., so still lovely Muscat, albeit with that little bit of sweetness, medium-long finish, very nice!! — 7 months ago

Parad' Aux Alsace Pinot Blanc 2021

Spice, mineral, starting to take on some roundness, but retains its great balancing acidity, I have a long-term fondness for Alsatian Pinot Blanc, this has definitely improved since last bottle I opened, very hood! — 4 months ago

Bollenberg Alsace Riesling 2022

Faint petrol/diesel aromas, floral and white stonefruit aromas and flavors dominate, very youthful and primary, very good acid, this also needs further aging, very nice Alsatian Riesling!! — 6 months ago

Strangenberg Pinot Noir 2016

Dark fruited aromas and flavors, this still shows a quite firm structure, long, lingering finish, this needs further cellaring, very fine Alsatian Pinot Noir!! — 8 months ago

Domaine Christine Vernay

Sainte Agathe Syrah 2020

Basket of fresh black and red fruits, smoky notes, roasted, charcoal, pepper, violet. The nose suggests a little residual sugar, except it will turn out to be very dry in the mouth. Supple and beautiful creaminess, the texture in the mouth is beautiful. Côte-Rôtie style. Superb for its price.
