Aconcagua Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2021

This is a very tasty, albeit very young, Cabernet sauvignon blend from Chile. Created in collaboration with Robert Mondavi.

Full-bodied with medium acidity.

Showing cedar, blackberries, sweet cherries, chocolates, coffee, cola, vanilla, licorice, spices, earth, light vegetables, tobacco leaf and herbs.

Tannic finish after 90 minutes of airtime.

Needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Has good potential to become a 94+ point wine.

Already showing great complexity, and would pair nicely with a big piece of steak.

Wine Advocate 98 points.

A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Malbec, 17% Carmenere and 6% Petit Verdot.

14% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$150.

@DD Agreed! This took a week to settle in, I thought I was opening it young even after a 6h decant, and I was right. I'm not opening another until at least 2034-39. For real...

Viña Errazuriz

Don Maximiano Founder's Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1987

Medium garnet ,medium terracotta rim . Quite spiced , dried fruits, tobacco , touch of caramel , warm earth . Smoky . On the palate quite sweet mix of red and dark fruits, red plum , dark cherry , spiced tobacco, hickory . Quite sweet on the finish , menthol hint, with a touch of caramel on the finish, slightly grippy tannin. This improved quite a lot in the glass , with more fruit noticeable , fills out quite well , better balance. Drink now and over the next couple of years. — a month ago

Clos Apalta

Valle de Apalta Red Blend 2017

Intense and deep ruby , garnet tinged rim . Quite intensely fruited , cassis , spiced blackberry , blueberry . On the palate lots of cassis and blackcurrant character , blueberry notes , roasted pepper and touch of wood spice . High tannin , lots of grip , with just balanced acidity and alcohol . Quite dense and serious on the finish . Needs a bit more time to fully integrate but promising . Better in 5 years and will last well a further 5-10 — 3 months ago

Good right out the bottle and stayed that way for a couple of days. What a nice grape! Very underrated. Medium body with a bit of spice. Sweet with a balanced tannin. Day 2 showed more acidity which improved it further. Excellent vino. — a month ago
