2012 in 11/23....Snagged from KL Auction in Cali days. Stored perfectly. Let down w my 1st SQN experience but poss my own fault for too patient. O2. Better on day 5. Rich, viscosity, peach, stone fruit. Alc seemed tame for 15.2...Ch,Rous,Vio, Pet Manseng...could tell this was once a fascinating and delicious wine though likely a btl i'd need help with. Very ‘cool’ label. Abstract art. Lovely color. Purple-maroon with a magenta rim. Deep. Violets and berries on the nose. Cinnamon, clove, tar and piney forest as well. Cranberry or mulberry too. Has an acid streak. Pretty low-soft tannins and very drinkable for a young Cab. Balanced. Nice blend of herbs and berries in the mouth. Slightly zingy. Cigars tobacco leaf over cigar box. Finish is pure Bell Mountain. This is excellent Cab & will age well, but is A-OK now. — 6 years ago

I don’t rate wines this high often. Almost never. This was just stupendous. Beautiful, complex and layered nose of flowers, berries and game. Like a red-meated DRC, that good. Both adequately ripe and cherry-fruited and savory, herbal and bloody. Rich but decidedly middleweight on the palate. Long and subtle finish. No roughness, no rusticity. Gorgeous. Classic, pretty Spanish label of abstract art evoking greens and blues of the ocean. Great garnet red color. Smells like mineral water, painter’s tape, rosewood and smoked pork products. Flavors of rosewater & cherries in a rich cheesecake. Or maybe a bit of Red Zinger and rosehip tea with a bit of red grape juice in it. Very floral with elderberry jelly, raspberry sorbet and flower essences all in the mix. For a screw-top cheapie at Grocery Outlet, this is excellent, graceful garnacha. — 2 years ago

The label is, as usual, original. It's my fourth wine from Orin Swift Cellars (after "Abstract", "Papillon" and "Palermo"). And it's fantastic.

it is a blend of petite syrah, syrah and grenache. Ink color. The nose is full of fruity aromas: a plum, a blackberry and a blackcurrant and sweet liqueur aromas. Also the palate. But there you can also find a leather and a cocoa. Pleasant acidic finale reduces sweetness and closes this wine. — 7 years ago

What a great find today! A real fun wine with so much to enjoy. Blueberries, blackcurrant, vanilla, lavender, toffee, tobacco and mint, smooth and well rounded with initial sweetness which develops into a great finish. If you like Abstract, Machete and Mercury Head then you will love this. Decanted for an hour which let the fragrance and flavours develop nicely. If you drink it straight from the bottle then the above flavours will end with a meat/ blood tang. At $100 it's not an everyday wine unless that is your everyday wine budget, in which case can we meet? — 9 years ago

Opened this on Sunday at 3:30, not sure when anyone will see it since Delectable sucks, maybe Tuesday?I would rather have the 2012 Abstract over this, that had more viscosity that I'm into, this was a thinner blend.
Now I see it, only took 7 hours, great job Delectable🙄,I would be out of business if I took care of my clients like this.

Serious with weight, complexity, and power. Very reductive funky nose. The palate attack starts with high acid and citrus/mandarin, then moves into an incredible mid palate - round, creamy, with pure citrus and peach fruit giving vibrancy. Long, balanced, and multi-layered. Top 3 of all time with Daguenau, and Cotat. Expensive for a NZ S/B but incredible value given the quality. — 5 months ago

Deep purple with a nose of olive , lilac, raisin, tomato leaf, cigar box, and a hint of tar and vanilla. Very interesting aroma on this one. Good full-bodied mouthfeel with a hint of fruit on the front, but moves quickly into the flavors noted on the nose. A brooding wine with depth and earthiness. This is an interesting wine and fits the abstract series from Goosecross from which it comes. Definitely will be picking up more of this in the future. — 6 years ago

It’s value for money night. This is a nicely balanced and very approachable blend from Austin Hope. It is a little more restrained than the Cabernet which can be a little too sweet and extracted but it has a great combination of fruit and spice flavours. I enjoyed this and would add it to my ‘bankers’ under $30 along with Orin Swifts Abstract and Daou’s The Pessimist. — 8 years ago

Villa Symposia is the Languedoc label from Éric Prissette, the founder of Château Rol Valentin. The winemaking is overseen by Stéphane Derenoncourt. And from what I gathered, L'Origine is the flagship, or at least 'the' high-end cuvée here. The importer label indicates it's 95% Syrah, 5% Grenache (but a blog post from Taste Languedoc mentioned Carignan was added to the blend in 2012). The Syrah comes from the oldest vines of the estate, ~50 years old.

Opens with a noticeable amount of Brett, which can go either way for me. I view Brett like abstract art... done well and it's a beautiful lens to which to view a wine. However, when it's done poorly it's shit (literally). This was done very well. The pungent barnyard, stinky cheese, and saddle leather arrive heavily seasoned with baking spices, noticeably cinnamon, and herbs, including rosemary and tarragon. Ripe, dark bramble fruit, lavender oil, and pine resin pervade the palate and continue through the lengthy and structured finish. An extraordinary mix of the old and new world, while maintaining a clear sense of terroir, and providing an intensely vivid experience. It really hits its stride after 1.5 hours. Fair warning, if you don't like Brett at all then I wouldn't recommend this wine... however if you've ever liked a wine because of Brett, I suspect you'll enjoy. — 10 years ago
