Hamilton Russell Vineyards

Hemel-en-Aarde Valley Pinot Noir 2019

Cheers to the wines of South Africa 🇿🇦

This Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir is unique in that the grapes used to produce it primarily came, not from Hamilton Russell vineyards, but rather from neighboring vignerons.

Hamilton Russell made this unprecedented decision in the aftermath of devastating wild fires that imparted smoke taint to its estate-grown grapes. Unwilling to compromise on quality, I applaud Hamilton Russell for its tenacity and willingness to forge ahead to create this delicious Pinot Noir for its customers. 👏👏👏

This wine is comprised of fruit hailing from three different Hemel-en-Aarde (aptly meaning “heaven and earth”) Wards within the Walker Bay District, in the Cape South Coast Region of South Africa’s Western Cape.

This wine is a reflection of community, camaraderie, and commitment to excellence.❤️

👁 It is medium ruby with pale fuchsia rim variation.

👃 On the nose this wine has a medium(+) intensity of youthful aromas. The aromas include candied cherry, strawberry rhubarb preserves, violet, dried orange peel, white pepper, star anise, clove, and nutmeg.

👄 On the palate this wine is dry. It has medium(+) acidity, a medium body, medium alcohol, medium tannins, and medium intensity of flavors consistent with the nose. This wine has a medium finish.

Hamilton Russell, Pinot Noir, Walker Bay, ABV 13.5%. Vintage 2019.

Lismore

Cape South Coast Syrah 2016

As Syrah goes, it’s enjoyable and smooth. But it lacked real depth and flavor to make it a favorite — 2 months ago

Felicité Pinot Noir 2019

Продолжаю сегодня, 30.05.21 дегустировать базовую программу. Этот пино нуар 2019 года мне понравился. Мягкий, рафинированный, питкий. Мое. На нем и остановился. — 22 days ago

Fin utveckling. Mycket autolytiska smaker och skön vikt. Gastronomisk cap-bubbel. — a month ago

The Age of Grace Viognier 2018

Like the Chardonnay I found this lacking character and came as a disappointment after enjoying the Lismore reds - I’ll stick to them going forward. — 2 months ago

Red Malgas Syrah Blend 2016

Farmed in Malgas, 15km from the sea grown on dramatic sites of broken shale and rolled stone.
Absolutely great smooth and curvy wine smooth recommended.

Beaumont Wines

Pinotage 2017

Tasted primarily black and red fruit. Blackberry jam and plum. Well balanced and delicious — 25 days ago

Penley Estate

Phoenix Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon

Points for sheer complexity even if not my style. Loads of bell pepper, eucalyptus, bay leaf, pencil shavings, and blackberries. Needs time or rich food. It’s a lot of wine for $25. — 2 months ago
