The Ojai Vineyard

Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir 2019

A bit cloudy ruby color; red and blue fruit, minerality, and oak on the nose with some decadent dusty attic-notes and tire-rubber; medium-plus on the body, acid levels, and alcohol (13.5%), fine tannins, tart cherries and strawberries. — 12 days ago

Special Bottling Solomon Hills Vineyard Syrah 2014

Golden and Opal apples, Bartlett pear, lemon zest, red grapefruit in the bouquet. Tart green apple, buttered toast, lemon pith, white peach, soft notes of zesty ginger gives a nice zippiness on the finish along side hints of almond oil on a medium length finish. Strong lemony yellow color with a rich, opulent yet refreshing mouthfeel with a pleasant linger. Great white wine — 4 months ago

Clos Pepe Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

Delightful. Great, light, flavorful Pinot - drinking really well. Paired w/ tasty toasted goat cheese crostini + light spinach salad w/ balsamic/mustard. I think Ojai pinots are a treat & great value. — 5 months ago

Solomon Hills Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

This is fantastic. It’s right where it needs to be. Nose of mulled raspberries, mushroom, wet soil, hay, and white pepper. Lush tannins mostly faded and a hit of acidity that’s not grippy at all. The nose transfers through to the palate with the fruit really shining. There’s some umami and more white pepper. I wish I had more. Drink up. — 5 months ago

Great barolo and especially for this price point. Will order this every time when at Nociolla on Ojai. Gem of a wine at a gem of a restaurant 👌🏽 — a month ago

John Sebastiano Vineyard Grenache 2013

This was absolutely fantastic. Every once in a while, Adam Tolmach and Fabien Castel cull away a few barrels of something for these Special Bottlings. Bought this at the winery a number of years ago, and it is awesome. A totally underrated winery in my opinion, I’d put this version of grenache up against pretty much anything coming out of CA (or southern Rhone, for that matter). Adam used to get criticized years ago because he left his grapes on the vine “too long”, and now he gets grief for picking too early. I think he does it just right. His wines have terrific fruit and great acidity that are perfectly in balance yet provide for fantastic aging potential. Great stuff, with an even better QPR. If you can get your hands on this specific wine, though, do yourself a favor and snag it! — 3 months ago

Very nice Pinot. Probably the best I have tasted from Santa Barbara. Bright and layered red fruit. Tastes like Burgundy! — 6 months ago
