Rincon Vineyard Pinot Noir

Talley is my favorite for Pinot, and this Rincon highlights and reinforces why. An amazing color – almost black with hints of ruby. Plums, berries, dark cherries, and forest floor minerality made this dance on the tongue! — 11 days ago

Done & Done Talley Rincon Vineyard Chardonnay 2019

I’m between a 92-93 here. Rounding up due to potential.

A producer I’ve had a few times over the years that for some reason I didn’t explore, even though I always quite enjoyed them (chards and Pinots alike). I picked up a few random bottles from the winery to explore more, and was told to start with the offering as it’s easily accessible.

Down the middle style when it comes to Cali chard. Coastal (bright, sea spray, crystalline), but ripe (beautiful juicy orchard fruits). In the background there is a sweet lemon flair. Aromatics and palate match up, though it had some flinty reduction notes to blow off when opening. Profile wise, I’d say this is more soft and rounded than Ceritas, but not as powerful or bold as Aubert/Marcassin.

Talley Vineyards Estate Bottled Pinot Noir 2005

The years may vary, but a Talley Ricon is always a favorite. Deep burgundy color and dark berries are instantly noticeable, but the spices come onto the stage in a later act. Worth the wait. Delicious. — 10 months ago

Rosemary's Vineyard Pinot Noir 2005

It’s been a while since the last bottle of this year, and those years made a difference! Cherries mellowed, allowing minerals to become more prominent. An elegant, but still approachable bottle to start the evening. — 2 months ago

Stone Corral Vineyard Pinot Noir

Different year on an new Talley vineyard and it’s still as stellar as the other Talley wines. Beautiful color and inviting nose. Dark cherries on the first sip that opened to reveal more earthy spices. A fabulous complement to sushi. — 3 months ago

Estate Bottled Arroyo Grande Valley Chardonnay 2018

Such a consistently good value. Outgoing nose features butterscotch, tangerine, wet limestone, and a floral note. Dry and tangy in the mouth, with loads of stony minerality and acid, along with a bit of toasty barrel spice. — 7 months ago

Have never found a Talley wine (dating back to the 1991 vintage) that leapt out and always found both the whites and reds kinda monolithic. That sed, have never had an aged wine of theirs and thinking they would be pretty darned good with 4-7 years of aging.
