Sagrantino Di Montefalco

Moretti Omero

Sagrantino di Montefalco 2011

Vintage 2011 | I love Sagrantino that plays hard to get | This wine has a gloomy brown colour. A smell if you stand in a leather bags shop, and a earthiness that is comparable with aged Saint Estephe. Stubborn. Though smooth taste on next day, many layers. My type of wine, utterly lovely. Organic wine par excellence! | Paired with T bone steak and ratatouille. — a day ago

Boccatone Rosso Montefalco Sangiovese Blend 2015

One of my favorite Italian wines. A lovely Sangiovese blend from Umbria. Very smooth at 6 years old and pared well with lasagna and other Italian foods. 2015 vintage in June 2021. The nose was so full of berries that simply inhaling the wine was a distinct pleasure. — a month ago

Paolo Bea

Cerrete Sagrantino di Montefalco 2009

Oh…wow…it was my brother-in-law’s birthday and he asked the local Rosenthal distributor for a recommendation on what to buy (and drink) to celebrate. This was their recommendation! And while I applaud their impeccable taste, I wish this had been thrown into a decanter the day before! My first experience with Bea’s “Cerrete”. Popped and poured; consumed far too quickly (within 90 minutes). The wine pours a deep garnet. This wine is high intensity with some noticeable VA. It smells like a wine from the Woodland realm, with rich dark fruit, wood, blue and purple flowers, exotic spices, and balsamic notes. On the palate, ripe dark fruit mixed with tart cherries and baking spices. Substantial structure; high tannin and super dry with high acid. The finish was impossibly long. The only unfortunate thing about the experience was it was cut way too short as I feel the best was yet to come if we had decanted. Never the less, it was a remarkable, rustic wine that I hope to have another experience with in the future. Bottle number 1815 of 3993. — 23 days ago

Colle Alle Macche Sagrantino 2009

I’m not a huge fan of Italian wine, but this was nice. PnP’d. Deep, dark red color. Refined nose. Rustic, complex wine with a lovely texture. Medium finish. — a month ago

Montefalco Rosso 2018

An exceptional value. Just a very fun - maybe joyful, even - wine to drink. Great balance, great fruit, nice finish with good acid. Not overly complicated, but very enjoyable and a nice pairing with homemade pizzas. — 14 days ago
