Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2015 pours a deep ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with fairly significant staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe black and red fruits: black cherry, mixed bramble berries, spices, horse blanket, espresso…powerful. On the palate, the wine is dry with high tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and wild. Whoa, the structure is significant. Drink now and through 2040. Cherries, nice smoothly integrated tannins. A bit more sugar than I usually go for but overall extremely pleasant. I could see this going well with a meal that wants a leaner but still luscious red — 10 days ago
High QPR! Goes well with many foods but especially any simple Italian fare. One of my go to Italian wines. It’s nice to go beyond Tuscany or Piedmonte. — 3 months ago
Well balanced with med acidity. Ripe cherry that lingers on the pallet. Great wine with our red sauce pasta dinner.. A Joe Godas selection — 2 months ago
Third course at Bacchus. Braised beef short ribs, caramelized mirepoix, house made pappardelle. A fantastic pairing. — 3 months ago
