Salty at the beginning, gradually strong in mineral and finally smooth til the end- what a rich etna rosse! — 7 years ago
Primarily Sangiovese with some Canaioli amongst other native grapes. Lots of acidity. Fresh cherry notes. (Lots Of Fruit). Hints of tobacco and herbs. Light bodied but really balanced. Yes it is young. Very food friendly. — 8 years ago
I have never felt such intensity of dark cherries and blueberries. It’s just super delicious, but short on palate and nose. You need to never stop sipping it to feel it long enough. — 9 years ago
Medium garnet, bright medium plus acidity and wonderfully earthy notes. This is a terrific find, a reasonably priced wine with lots of character. Medium body, long finish, very appealing with salty and fatty salumi — 10 years ago
What character! High salinity and some smoke. Probably the most interesting Franciacorta I've had, and it doesn't even want to be champagne — a year ago
Well balanced wine with expressive flavours & beautiful mouth feel. Nose has rich dark cherry with edges of star of anise. In mouth: Blackberry, violet, the finish starts with tannins of oak & concludes with a lengthy linger of crushed mixed peppercorns

Everyone else who opened this before 2020 is missing out. 1 glass tonight then the rest with 🥩 tomorrow after a 2 hour decant, buts it’s drinking great at p&p. Fantastic nose
The 2012 Collina Dalla Valle, produced mainly from younger vines on the estate, highlights the delicacy, precision, and richness of the vintage. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the wine brings forth the best of our terrior—aromas of dried flowers, red raspberries, black currant, gravel, and smoke.
In 1983, Gustav and Naoko Dalla Valle began planting vines on the hillside of Oakville, overlooking Napa valley. Their vineyards produce excellent quality grapes, resulting in wines of great intensity, complexity and balance. Gustav passed away in 1995 and Naoko Dalla Valle continues the legacy of Dalla Valle wines. Dalla Valle Vineyards produces three wines: Maya (55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Cabernet Franc), Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Pietre Rosse (100% Sangiovese). — 6 years ago

Just bought 2 more .750 & 1 mag of this 2012, so goodSplendido con salumi e carni rosse. Delizioso — 8 years ago
Not my favourite grape variety, but this refosco is seriously good. 11 years old, it has style an refinement. Complex and elegant, it was excellent companion to whole lunch, from couvert to dessert. — 9 years ago
Had a glass on NYE to induce labor--it was great! Maybe it was great because I haven't had a drink in months, but, I'd buy it again! — 10 years ago
Hyvä kirpeä valkkari. Hapan ja omenainen.

BC. Black currant, over-ripe stone fruit, earth, tobacco acid. Really nice complexity. Good now, suspect it will age well. — 5 years ago
Molto fresco, con il gusto amaro un’po. E’ il nostro favarito. Abbiamo bevuto con i piatti picanti cinesi, era un buon marriage. E’ organico. Vorrei prendere quando lo trovo di nuovo. — 6 years ago

ARPEPE Sassella “Rocce Rosse” Riserva 2013—an outstanding expression of Nebbiolo from the Valtellina Superiore DOCG.
🏔️ Valtellina is a northerly district in Lombardy, Italy, bordering Switzerland. It boasts a majestic alpine mountain-scape w/ terraced vineyards perched on the steep slopes of the Alps, surrounding an oasis of sunshine on the valley floor.
Valtellina is famous for its perfumed & elegant wines made mostly from Nebbiolo (locally ‘Chiavennasca’).
🍷 This 2013 is 100% Chiavennasca from a site at 400-500 meters elevation in the Sassella subzone.
🍒It offers pronounced aromas & flavors of dark cherry, bright raspberry, mulberry, pomegranate, fig, strawberry rhubarb, potpourri, black tea, star anise, fennel, peat, olive tapenade, vanilla, cardamom, nutmeg & forest floor.
😍 On the palate, it is lifted & ethereal w/ mouth-watering acidity & velveteen tannins that support a lingering finish. A BEAUTIFUL wine. — 3 days ago
