Popped and poured; no formal notes. The “Extra Quality” is a silly, old-school sounding designation…but this is sort of an old-school style of Champagne. It was a little “meh” on the first pour; unwilling to show much. However, with some air it opened up and displayed a pleasant balance of fruit and autolytic character. this P-J Granite, a special NV first time bottling, was spectacular. Creamy layered with deep, deep rich flavors and very quiet mousse. Partial ML fermentation, mostly Chardonnay, from a dozen vintages, such a lovely wine. — 8 months ago
