Outstanding Syrah from Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria Valley, a site Rajat Parr has been exploring for a number of years (some, in collaboration with Piedrasassi) to craft a California Syrah to match the northern Rhône best ones (if you've read Rajat Parr's Atlas of Taste, you know he's obsessed with Thierry Allemand). Lively, balanced, delicious. — 4 years ago

Tastes like a cigar box smells.....in a cedar closet. Super bitter barky aftertaste, and dirty swig-from-the-bottle fun after two days open. Something amazing from Lompoc. — 4 years ago
Bored of Sauvignon blanc? Try this. Has some body, funk and serious length. — 6 years ago

2019 vintage. Showing just below the lushness of a Sine Qua Non or Alban Syrah-based effort. This is, nonetheless, outstanding. Slightly more acidity evident than many Rhône efforts tasted from Alban/Sine Qua Non/other Central Coast producers on the finish. Simply amazing that it's being done at a 12.5% ABV clip. If you see it, hit it. 3.22.23 — 6 months ago
