This wine is from NW Spain, just E of Rias Baixas, made predominantly of hand-picked mencia grapes of >50-year-old vines. The color is light purple with a brick tinge; nose is full and round with dark berries, a flinty salinity, mediterranean spices, and a hint of cabernet-like pyrazines; taste is also round with mild small tannins and medium alc. and acidity, dark fruits, no hint of new oak, and a pleasant elegant finish. Paired with spanish hams, dried pata negra filé, and French Beaufort ”gruyere-comté”-type cheese from the milk of high-altitude grazing cows. Yum! — 5 years ago

Vintage 2015 - I dó like this. #torrontes grape with expressive smell, peaches, a hint of butter (no wood) vivid taste — 4 years ago
How times change. 15 years ago I'd not have given 5 year tinta negra blends a second glance. This does what it says on the bottle--it is full and rich. Crème brûlée, butterscotch, almonds, vanilla, and healthy acidity. Only lacking that final layer of complexity that great aged madeira can contain. Stunning QPR for madeira. — 5 years ago

Had this several days ago, but wanted to get it in my Delectable log. Really liked it. Remembered it as a rich, full bodied wine with great depth and evolving flavors from front to throat 😊. — 11 days ago
