Prior notes still apply; best QPR of any Sagrantino out there, nothing touches this...

Nose has burnt cigar box, cocoa nibs, dark chocolate, black cherry, ripe plum, moist anise spice, over-ripe blackberry; such concentration, amazing!

Palate has dark chocolate, over-ripe and very juicy black cherry, well integrated cedar notes, over-ripe blackberry, great balance, finish is nearly forever. Decanted ~3hrs and it's really screaming out of the decanter/glasses tonight. This bottle threw the most sediment of all prior bottles. 100% Sagrantino.

Nice recommendation from the local wine shop. Pretty much as advertised.

45+ min decant. Dark red color. Nose has medicinal tones, gasoline, and prunes. Wine is thick and tannic with cherries and rhubarb. Age served this well. Finish is thin and has some weird tequila elements. Not my style.

Pagliaro Secco Montefalco Sagrantino 2010

Nose has smoked & partially-dried plum, sliced cherries dredged in cocoa powder, faint baking spice, mashed black cherries, old cigar box and dried blackberries.

Palate has grilled plum, savory herbs, over-ripe blackberry, bittersweet chocolate chips, faint fire-roasted tomato and raspberry puree.

Decanted +3H, needs lots more time to uncoil. Medium to heavy tannins with a drying palate texture similar to eating a spoonful of cocoa powder, dry + chocolatey. A wall of tannins, if drinking this before 2026, decant at least 8-12H.

Riserva Pipparello Montefalco Rosso Sangiovese Blend 2008

Every grape in this blend is doing its job. The color is outstanding. The Sagrantino gives the Sangio significantly more backbone without overpowering the flavor and dominating the blend. The Montepulciano gives you a full finish. I have another bottle of this, which I am thrilled about. This is way up there, possibly the best wine I’ve drunk in 2020. Paolo Bea and Enzo Pontodi are two of the greatest wine makers in my version of Italy. — 14 days ago

Primarily Sagrantino grapes - this Sparkling Brut Rose shows a beautiful salmon color. Tight stream of bubbles. Aromas of apple, rose petals and lemon. Tart apple, lemon, slate, orange zest and hint of stone fruit follow on the pallet. Great acidity and balance. A Sparkler that is a bit different. — 19 days ago
