Marsannay, Côte De Nuits

Domaine Bart

Marsannay Rosé Pinot Noir 2020

N: Strawberries and peaches with some dirt. Shows best when it’s been out for a bit.
P: Nice bright and lip smacking, it hints at cherries. Very herbal, perfect with a blt and white bean/garlic scape dip.
With extended time out, this fills out, develops a cantaloupe rind quality.

Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2006

Très beau même si c’est encore un bébé, beaucoup de matière, la structure et la texture d’un GC sont la par contre, bâti pour la route. 92-93

Very nice structure and texture, but still a baby, a little atypical of many 2006 I drank before from many producers.

Vieilles Vignes Côte de Nuits-Villages Pinot Noir 2019

This was delicious, and a winning blind for me. Having a baseline on the table definitely helped. Although less sweet and intense, I felt the JM Millot was in the same genre as the Métras, with similar texture, floral lift, minerality, and red fruit profile. It was the difference in fruit sweetness that gave it away as being from greater Burgundy, whereby Pinot Noir usually appears less sweet than Gamay to me. The village was definitely a lot harder to identify which made sense upon the reveal - when in doubt, it’s probably from one of the lesser communes (or Morey lol!). Fine, fresh, and energetic, I would have drank a lot more of it if not for the other wines on the table. Another to revisit. — 11 days ago

Aux Thorey Nuits Saint Georges Pinot Noir 2020

Lyle Fass
9.9

Just a phenomenal nose. Wow. Perfect, and so deep. 4D cherries. Black, red, perfect cherries. So deep. Endless cherries. High toned and dark at the same time. Totally amazing. Wow. This is genius. Haunting earth and stoniness. This nose is a 10.0. Just insane. Totally mindblowing. The detail and depth is unreal. Best nose of the 2020 Brissets. The nose smells like GC Vosne-Romanee. Such a special site. Juicy and so dense but bright as well. So sweet and fresh. This just has a tiny berry juicy explosiveness. Sappy and pure and such lift. Finishes so mineral. Wow that opulence in the midpalate leads to unreal juicy fruit on the finish that is so bright, energetic and lifted. Stunning length. The detailed black and red cherry fruit that is blended with the perfect level of opulence. Longest of all the 2020 Brisset reds. Wow. A profound wine of total genius. I am floored. The tannins are so fine, so well knit. so velvet. This will be a 10.0 with age. — 5 days ago

Cuvée Marie Ragonneau Marsannay Pinot Noir 2018

Medium dark rubi robe, nose of flowers and spices with a hint of wild cherries. Medium bodied with supple tannins but strong spine buried under this great acidity and balance. Feels like modern winemaking but has no excess and is impeccable wine that drinks great now but should benefit of 3 to 5 years in the cellar. Will gain complexity. We loved it. — 2 months ago

Clos du Roy Marsannay Pinot Noir 2019

Yes, drinking too young. Reports are that 19 is a great Burg vintage. If this bottle is any indication, buy up. Absolutely delicious and I can’t wait to revisit in 3-5 years. Tart red fruit, great acidity, forest floor, acid and hint of tannins. — 17 days ago

Un vin super jeune mais quel potentiel et quelle matière, très bon maintenant malgré la jeunesse. 93-94

Very young of course but such potential, density and structure, you can still feel this Grand Cru impression when you know it is special.

Domaine Trapet Père & Fils

Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2015

Fruits rouges, griottes, un peu de bois mais sans lourdeur. Une bouche d’une belle classe et élégance, un équilibre exemplaire, approchable pour un 2015, excellent. 93-94

Red fruit, cherries, touch of wood that is mot disturbing. The palate has this generous fruit of the 2015, it is balanced, classy, elegant and approachable for a 2015. Gorgeous.
