A blend of 50% Malbec, 22% Merlot, 22% Cab Sauv & 6% Cab Franc, aged in French oak 50/50 new & 1 year old, combining fruit from Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruit, earthy and floral spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and tart cherry flavors, with vanilla, licorice, citrus and herb spice. Fine tannins, well balanced long finish ending with tart fruit and a sweet earthy mineral character. Nice! Tasted twice! — 6 days ago
Bright blue/blackberry aromas with hints of purple flowers. Blueberry fruit on the pallet with notes of vanilla , tobacco, coffee and dried herbs. Not as big and dense as many typical Malbecs. (Bottle Age?). Touch of bitterness on the long and chewy finish. — 17 days ago
Welcome to the long weekend. Tonight I have opened the 2007 Catena Nicolas Catena Cabernet Sauvignon. From Bodega Catena Zapata Mendoza, Argentina. The blend is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Malbec and the remainder Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, leather, licorice, vanilla, smokey oak and dark rich earth.
On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, licorice, leather, cedar, cigar box and earth.
This wine is full bodied yet showing it's age, soft and supple with medium to medium + acidity and medium to medium + mouthcoating grippy tannins that lead s us into a long black fruit and significant earthy finish. This is a great expression of Argentine Cabernet with some good years left in the bottle. Looking forward to this weekend and spending time with family. Have a great weekend and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 16 days ago
Great blend from Catena Zapata. Smooth and dry, with tannins to withstand even the fattiest of steaks. Long, oaky finish. A pleasure to sip and share. — a month ago
One of the best oaked Chardonnays out there, beating white burgundys that cost twice. Subtle oak, refreshing at first, then creamy. Long finish with a pronounced apricot jam note. — a month ago
