Perfect example of the difference between a Pinot about and a Spätburgunder. This is the latter - light & herby with damson plums, woodland flowers and a touch of undergrowth. Juicy and light on the palate with fruity acidity and some light tannins. Great with food, good for sipping solo. A nice effort. — a year ago

Dark ruby red in the glass. Very aromatic with black cherry, crème de cassis, licorice, vanilla extract, and hints of graphite. Dense, concentrated fruit on the palate with a bit of the Rutherford dust on the back end. A blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, this is the second wine produced from the J.J. Cohn estate after Scarecrow. Although still in its infancy, it was a pleasure with Wagyu Steak Frites. 14.9% alcohol. $190. — 3 years ago

En Magnum. Built like a tank! High acid, massive extract, super pungent, crazy mineral, extra concentrated herbal lemon drop. This is riesling turned up to 11 (on a scale of 10)!
As much as this does not fit in my M.O. for riesling drinking, I can't help but be impressed with Becker's Edition Jean Baptist. Undeniably high octane, especially at 14% abv, but unbelievably balanced and pure. The wine needs heaps of time to hit full stride - best after 2 days of aeration. Intense aromas of exotic fruits and herbs. Think candied lemon, pineapple, and even jackfruit. On the palate, the structure is immense. Luscious crystalline fruit sitting on enamel-melting acidity and minerality directly extracted from liquid rock. You can definitely feel some warmth in the finish, but the length is incredible.
