Rosso di Montalcino Sangiovese 2020

Delectable Wine
8.9

The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino takes its time opening in the glass, yet is worth the wait, as a smoky mix of balsam, rosemary, crushed rocks, dried black cherries and mint nuances form its dark bouquet. This is soft in texture and savory within, with brisk acids maintaining a lovely balance and pretty nuances of strawberry and spice that fill the senses. The 2020 tapers off with subtle tannins and medium length as rosy florals slowly fade. (Eric Guido, Vinous, October 2022)

Le Chiuse di Sotto Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2010

Happy Boxing Day 2022 from 🇭🇰! Ok. Bottle is done. Meal is complete. Honest review to follow. One — this wine. Serve this to anyone and they will be thrilled with its drink ability and balance coupled with depth and refinement. It’s Brunello de Montalcino’s finest (according to Sr and Sra Martinez). While service was a bit slow — where were we to go? Nowhere other than to people watch and enjoy the show. Technically it’s still alba truffle season; one tagliatelle order later (don’t ask the price); so happy. A dual of meat dishes: delightful (though don’t leave Danny alone w pomme purée) — but at the end of the day, it is the desserts that reign supreme. The sgroppino! The soufflé! Pannetone with mascarpone cream! The box of chocolates and truffles (and a side of limoncello). Visit at Christmas, we insist. This was a lovely visit at a staple favorite. 5 stars! — 5 months ago

Il Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato 2021

So floral! Still dry, though. Dried violets, roses, and lilac. Plum, ripe cranberry, a little prune/cola. Very nice tannins and good acids, with some saline and mineral finish. Really nice. From Moore Brothers. 11/26/22 — 6 months ago

Serre Barolo Nebbiolo 2010

Pop and pour. Vinous note suggested early drinking, CT tasting notes suggest waiting. Split the difference? I was expecting a fruit-forward modern-styled barolo, and while this definitely leans modern, it is not over-the-top. In fact, quite charming at this stage. On the nose: classic blood orange, soft florals, but modern sandalwood inflections, with some dried strawberry secondary notes. On the palate: excellent acidity, bitter herbs, dried raspberry, dried sage, and soft plum. Serious tannin kicks in, but the finish is juicy enough that most food pairings will soften the tannic blow. Tipping the scales at a burly 14.5% ABV, but this is surprisingly nimble. I really enjoyed this... — 2 years ago
