L'Anglore Cuvee des Caprices Chasselas 2023

Rest in peace, Justin Chearno.
Listening to his name ring out in every conversation around me here at Le Verre Volé in Paris, a restaurant which was more like a cathedral to him, a shrine where he was both worshipper and deity, I remember my friend and the great gifts he gave me. Everything tasted better with Justin at my side. I felt smarter, stronger, and cooler. So did everyone around him. Losing him is like losing one of your senses; it’s just suddenly that much harder to interpret the world around me. I miss him.

L'Anglore Eyrolle Lirac Grenache Mourvedre 2014

@Delectablewine this is not Roussanne, it’s a Grenache blend. That said, this shows concentrated, somewhat sappy red berries backed by a savory character adding some complexity. Chalky tannins add texture to the otherwise juicy finish. Aromatics trail the palate a bit, but show similar character. This has benefitted from a few years in the bottle — 5 years ago

Not my favorite L’Anglore, but still tasty. A little hot, but the pure fruit comes though on the finish. — 5 years ago

L'Anglore Pierre Chaude Red Rhone Blend 2020

I don’t always have the best experience with wines from this producer, but by golly, when they’re good, they’re really quite special, as it was here. Easily my red of the night!

So pure, clean, and lively. The nose was just bursting with floral and herbal energy, with hints of pepper and liquorice too. The fruits on the nose and palate felt so fresh - blackcurrant, strawberries, cherries, and even a hint of apples in the finish. Juicy and super velvety. Very quaffable, but it’d be a mistake to not focus in on the [perhaps stealthy] complexities it offered.

Wine envy, envy: I used to drink this producer but I can’t find his bottles anymore. I seem to remember he was a honey producer, very natural methods. Lucky you @Aaron Tan !
