Les Chenevottes Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2011

Falling for all the first hints of autumn. Tonight, it’s roasted Red Kuri squash and Chassagne-Montrachet. This wine is in a great place, striking its balance between fresh, vibrant acid structure on the palette and seductive toasted hazelnuts, toasted sesame, and red apple spice driving the nose. Marzipan / almond skin, oxidized apples, pastry dough, and green carrot tops are amongst some of the deeper pleasures of the nose of this wine. Delicious!
Perfectly paired with Gillian Welch & Lucinda Williams in the speakers.

Chante Coucou Côtes du Marmandais Red Blend 2012

L'elegance d'un Bordeaux avec le petit extra de générosité. Une puissance mûre, avec cette belle fluidité. On en veut encore. — 7 years ago

Incredible wine. Mother’s Day 2020 during coronavirus stay at home order. Enjoyed with center cut filet, grilled chicken, roasted potatoes with rosemary, arugula, goat cheese and tomato salad. Miranda done with freshman year at Notre Dame. Gillian almost down with sophomore year at Santa Margarita Catholic. — 2 years ago

Montevertine

Le Pergole Torte Sangiovese 1997

A business lunch with Jonathan and Gillian at one of the great Italian restaurants of Los Angeles. Recent commentary implying that the 97 was a bit wobbly and on the downslope required I pull the cork on one of my small stash of Le Pergole Torte. Happy to say the reports of a deteriorating state seem exaggerated. Mature, yes - decrepit, no! A beautifully developed berry richness with a hint of tea rose in the nose. Supporting tannins are gentle, but firm. Not PC to buy this wine any longer, a pity, as I imagine later vintages will develop into something as inviting as this one in time. With Gino's fantastic array of pastas; lamb ragu, limonate, seafood. Loved the wine loved the food. — 6 years ago

Bright and lively this seems like it is fresh off the vine, not 3 years old! Love this expression of Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris & Semillon. — 7 years ago

Red Rhone Blend 2018

Love this wine. Enjoyed with Tina, Miranda, and Gillian while on a coronavirus lockdown in March 2020. Miranda home from Notre Dame and G online schooling at home. Paired with pork loin, roasted potatoes, and green beans. All prepared by Miranda! Wonderful wine and evening. — 2 years ago

Seavey Vineyard

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1997

Powerful, young nose of undergrowth and loamy fruit. Tinge of green. Exceptional over the entire palate, with a fresh core of cocoa and espresso in leathery dark black fruit. Long finish, doesn't taste near 20 years, even with decant, miles to go. Thnx Gillian for 1st rate Sommestry! — 5 years ago
