Bodegas Juan De Acre

Hundred Acre Vineyard

Ark Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

my #1450 Hundred Acre for casual Monday happy hour. The nose was spectacular, so was the palate. It’s that sorta thing that happens when a handful of wine lovers serendipitously find one another. — 25 days ago

Wraith Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

I’m going for it—a spade is a spade. I couldn’t ask for more in a wine, and it’s in the perfect drinking window. — 2 months ago

This wine was special. 9.8 - 10. Hard to argue with @James K that it checks all boxes.

9.2

1hr+ decant. Dark red color. Everything seemed a bit tired and underwhelming. Dark cherries with subtle oak and tannins. Was expecting more. Medium minus depth and finish. — 3 months ago

Kayli Morgan Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2001

This is exactly in the drinking window. Decanted and needed about 40 minutes to get into 5th gear. The Cab had a mellow sweetness but long finish and plenty of roundness. — a month ago

Bodegas Casa Juan S.A.

Señor de Lesmo Rioja Gran Reserva Tempranillo Blend 2010

A dark and dense deep burgundy in the glass with tiny purple accents and no signs of bricking. The nose is rather delightful but you have to give it time. Primarily oak and tobacco notes for the first few hours but the fruit begins to express itself more and more as time goes by. Blue and blackberries with a touch of rhubarb and plums. There’s an earthy element that begins to shine on day two.

There are good values in wine and then there’s this. At fourteen years this is still fresh as a daisy and oh so vibrant. Old school and just so correct. A nice level of complexity and full of personality and charm for days. Full bodied, dry, and savory. The oak never threatens to overwhelm in the mouth, instead you get leather and smoke with enough black fruit. A medium long finish keeps you coming back. An easy favorite.
