Heavy cassis with notes of blackberry and spices are the star here. Somewhat musty nose. Paired well with gravy laden pork tenderloin.

Mossy with damp leaves and sweet cedar notes. Clay aromas with medium acid and med - tannins. Interesting. Benchmark wine from Armenia.

First time ever to try this and it is a success. One of the oldest vineyards in Europe, raised ik amphora. Musty, bright, truffles, complex. Perfect acidity.

Beautiful old world wine. Killer forest floor nose. Love this. Apparently one of the oldest vineyards in the world?!

Medium ruby; medium plus intensity aromas of black plum, blackberry, black cherry, hives, sour cream and onion chips; dry, medium plus acid, medium tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, medium intensity flavors consistent with aromas, bitter finish ; medium finish, a little too vegetal and savory for my taste, but well balanced

Bitter, black fruit, great acidity from this ancient varietal in an ancient wine region.

Not bad. Good fruit but not as much complexity as I anticipated.

A well done wine with maybe a bit of little grip wild finish, a nice discovery, a pure and fresh wine - Karasì, is a tribute to the 6100 year wine tradition of Armenia and to its Areni Noir grape, which has created the authentic spirit of this wine. Its name is a reference to its long aging in traditional large, clay, amphorae (karasì being the Armenian translation “from amphora”).

Someone came in about a month ago asking about Armenian wine. I said I didn't know of any but if there was one imported, it would find me. Well, today it found me. And it is lovely. High toned, elegant, fruit and earth and stories to tell.

Breathtaking in its beauty, nestled in the shadows of biblical Mount Ararat, 1400 meters above sea level, and only steps away from the most ancient of sites (a 6100 year old winery), the vineyards of Zorah are set in the quintessential wine producing region of Armenia, in Yeghegnadzor. A fantastic journey which began in Tuscany, Italy, and led ultimately to the ancestral homeland of its creators. Zorah Karasi 2011
