Disappointed, in Oregon and was expecting better.

[This review for WVV’s AVA Series - Ribbon Ridge bottling, not on Delectable.] Intense and beautifully perfumed, red florals, super ripe black cherry, and cherry menthol candy. Warm baking spices, musk and soil. Roughly 30% new oak is nicely integrated, adding vanilla and cocoa aromas and a smooth mouthfeel. Tannins are silky and soft, in balance with the wine’s mild but juicy acidity. Only downside here is a bit of alcohol heat, both on the nose and on the palate. Label says 13.7% but it feels low. Really enjoyed this bottle, would love to try more in this series.

Founder, Jim Bernau, purchased the Estate in 1983 and cleared away the old pioneer plum orchard & planted Pinot Noir, Chardonnay & Pinot Gris, hand watering with 17 lengths of 75' garden hose. Estate Pinot expresses the terroir of 3 vineyards, originally planted by Jim. Deep Ruby with aromas of red and black fruits and complex spice. The palate shows cherry & raspberry flavors with earthy tones, nuts & cacao. Full-bodied, smooth tannins, well balanced, lingering finish ending with fruit notes. Tasting Sample.

A good Oregon Pinot Noir is hard to beat and this wine is a great example. Elegant red fruits, touch of mushroom with balanced acidity. Bottle did not last long at the wine tasting.

Alluring aromas raspberries, cranberries and bright red fruit with highlights of clove, anise and white pepper. Perfect amount of earthiness blended with lovely, zippy acidity and well integrated tannins that are smooth and mouthwatering. Beautifully balanced. Pure bliss.

Monday night and opened another Pinot from Oregon, the 2015 Willamette Valley Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir. If I am going to drink Pinot my first thought is always to Oregon and the Willamette Valley. Very consistent and true to the veriatal, always clean, fresh and pleasing to the palate.

On the nose is very clean, cherry, raspberry, sweet strawberry, vanilla, smoke, wet leaves, and dusty soil.

On the palate there is tart cherry, raspberry, cranberry, a good mineral note, floral notes, spice, light cinnamon and earth.

This wine is medium bodied with medium + tingly acidity and medium fine tannin that leads to a medium to plus pleasing finish. Have a great week and continue being safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷
