Weingut Keller
Abts E.de Spätlese Rheinhessen Riesling
Not exactly the style that I most associate with Keller, but outrageously good. Huge amounts of lush RS respond immediately to the whip-crack of the vintage's blinding acidity, yet all is in harmony. Stylistically, it definitely straddles the elegance of the Rheingau and the bombast of the Pfalz. Peachy-apricot fruits with nectarine purée. Citrus isn't dominant, but what's there is more tangerine-Meyer lemon-y. White tea, exotic flower, and petrol notes lead the secondary. Low if any botrytis influence. Drink whenever you want to over the next century or so.

Feb 5th, 2015Very, very fine. Acid could be a touch higher but this is ‘16 and it is still scintillating, some interesting musky character integrated suprisingly well with ethereal borderline exotic fruit aromas. Perhaps just beyond feinherb, this wine is electric and complex as you could ever imagine a young spat tasting.
