Just an insane value. Each vintage gets better. Nose is savory as well with every defined mid season cherry fruit. Some sour cherries as well. Ebullient and effusive. Earth and hints of mint. So good. Palate is ripe and juicy with just unreal pure and delicate fruit. Terrific ripeness and wonderful dense texture and chewy minerality on the finish. Longer than it should be finish.

Sep 2nd, 2019Joy juice. Lovely perfumed nose of fresh crushed berries, cherries, spice and earth. Smells so fresh. Lively and fresh palate that is so energetic and dynamic. Nice barely there sweetness and elegant barely there tannins and so so juicy. Crunchy as can be. Long finish and such purity. Delightful.

Feb 24th, 2019One of the greatest red wine values on Earth. Planet Earth. Big cherries. Early to mid season and Uber spice. Mineral and charmingly rustic as well on the nose. Sweet, sappy and silky. Excellent freshness and purity. Really great wine.

This very light-colored red is very unique. Imagine a Burgundian Pinot Noir cut with a crisp Sancerre. Minerally, with the lemony scent of fresh-picked oregano, and ripe cherry fruit. Velvety soft texture, and so gulpable. Tremendous purity and surprising length and tenacity to the flavors. The ultimate summer red? I had it at room temperature but seems like it would be nice with a little chill too.

Jun 6th, 2017This is 2015 Leon Gold Trollinger Alte Reben Trocken and what a slamming bottle this is. A young new talent out of Wurrtemberg. This is trolly posing as Pinot Noir. Great nose of crunchy berries, a hint of funk, some nice wet earth tones, and some nice minty tones as well. Palate is just legendary for the usual pedestrian trollinger. Pure, juicy, balanced and elegant. All things Trollinger usually is not. Really brilliant balance. The color is also light as Trollinger can be pretty light. The fruit on this wine is all red cherries. It's light but mouth filling and the mineral crunch mixed with the cherry crunch is irresistible. Longer than it should be this is scary good.

May 3rd, 2017Fresh & sappy with underripe cherry, cranberry and whiff of moss and a pinch of fresh mint. A touch of plum, too.
On the palate this is light yet with nice juicy tannins giving a frame and the cranberry acidity filling it. Fresh, sappy and so drinkable.
There’s a touch of fatty, bright character, so typical German and so unnecessary.
But at 7€ this is absolutely brilliant, even if the top Vernatsch from Südtirol (at 30€+!) are a nudge purer and a touch more mineral.

Apr 16th, 2020Holy shit. The is one of the freshest, purest, juiciest and unfuckwithable weins I’ve tried in a while. Drank slightly chilled, after my run. Electrical fireworks. Just super fun, lying in the sunshine, picking dandelions and reveling in my youth. Pure joy.
