Qvevri Vino Rosso Nerello Mascalese

Funky but pretty... red currants, tart cherries, cranberries and a light body but with some mysterious notes.. tar and wet soil.

Beautiful brick color with amber rim. Strawberry leather, black cherry pits, barnyard, haystack. Low acidity, strong velcro tannin grip, long herbal/clay finish. Old school non interventionist winemaking aged underground in qvevri.

Delicious stuff. Strawberry punch.

Delicious with caponata, grilled octopus, and swordfish

For something this light:
juice, metal, umami.

Great angular fruit

Tannic but balanced. Hints of raspberry.

The longer it was open, the more the brett took over. Don’t recall seeing brett in this wine previously.
