This is superb. So balanced and saline and savory. Hints of lime, slate, pear. Great tension and a glossy resolved mid palate. Long and complex and delicious. Happy birthday Grace! Love you!! X

This vintage is drinking so well right now while you wait for 12 and 14. After a multi hour decant Dauvissat’s 2013 Clos radiates with power and intensity showing tremendous volume, textural weight and layers of oyster shell minerality, racy lemony acids and a massively long, vibrant, saline finish. Still many years to go on this one.

In such an amazing place. A perfect bottle. There is youthful power and verve and an incredible depth and seamlessness of vibrant fruit layered with minerality, pastry cream, roasted hazelnuts and an ocean spray-like salinity. It’s texturally captivating, wrapping around the palate with killer density without weight. Racy acids balance its richness and secondary nuttiness and it finishes forever. White burg at its finest.

Tropical notes of pineapple, passion fruit, lemon oil, flint. Really intense and sexy with good balance and a lot of punchy fruit. Very good stuff

Wax cap. One of the best young Dauvissat wines I’ve ever had.

Having selected Raveneau Valmur of the same vintage the prior night I thought it’d be fun to compare Dauvissat’s Clos. Also with a requested pre-dinner decant, it’s classic in style, seamlessly balanced between power and elegance and highly aromatic with layers of yellow orchard fruit, citrus blossoms, beeswax and stony minerals. The palate is rich, but not as weighty and textural as the Raveneau was, but instead shows great purity and focus with racy citrusy acids, a sea spray-like salinity and a long mineral inflicted finale. Excellent.

Best wine of year. No usual forwardness. Pear, asian spice, salinity and lemon zest. Very delicious.

Drinking this, you get a sense that you're staring into a bottomless lake - it's waters calm and dark, offering very little to what lies beneath. Perhaps a function of under-preparation or in it's dumb phase of aging, the 14' Les Clos was surprisingly underwhelming. Popped and poured, it started off with a sweaty reduction, before opening up to classic Chablis aromas. Palpably concentrated and deep, yet it lacked all the high points and clarity of the stellar 14' La Forest I just had 3 months ago. The table enjoyed it, but it was a disappointing pull for me.

I really love Dauvissat’s 07’s. Les Clos is totally in the zone showing incredible power and striking intensity flaunting its signature crushed oyster shell minerality and sea spray salinity with yellow fruit and intriguing flavors of beeswax and lavender honey. The palate shows superb integration and excellent weight and midpalate depth, with such a regal texture and mouthfeel. Its focused finish just goes on and on. A stunning Les Clos that has a long life ahead ✨
