Jan 20th, 2021Mainly Cabernet with Malbec, Carmenere, and Petit Verdot. Full bodied with nice acidity showing chocolate covered cherry, black currant, eucalyptus, and mocha. Less green than most Chilean wines I’ve tasted. Oak is well integrated. Wine evolves nicely in the glass. Drinking great with wild boar but no rush on the ‘13.

While I definitely like to enjoy wines on the older side of old once in awhile, like the 1989, I thought this 1993 was still holding fresh(er) fruit vs. the 1989.
On the nose, rhubarb, spiced dates, notes of prunes, a little green pepper, black licorice, dark cherries, cherries, strawberries, blue fruit hues, black cherry cola, vanilla, rich dark semi/sweet soil, chalky soft minerals and fresh dark floral bouquet.
The body is medium. The palate still shows some firm, tarry and a little sticky tannins. rhubarb, spiced dates, notes of prunes, a little green pepper, light pepper, black licorice, dark cherries, cherries, strawberries, blue fruit hues, black cherry cola, vanilla, rich dark semi/sweet soil, tobacco with ash, chewy leather, chalky soft minerals and fresh dark floral bouquet with light violets on the palate edge. The acidity is round & gorgeous. The finish is leaner, ripe, elegant and lasts minutes.

It was a real treat when they poured this 1989 for us.
On the nose, cognac & brandy quality, eucalyptus, mint, just a little vegetal character, some prune notes, cooked; blackberries, dark cherries, plums, fig & dates, light caramel taffy, notes of saline, vanilla, and fresh and withered red florals.
The body is leaner medium. The palate shows; bright cherries. Black cherries, blackberries, black plum, soft powdery minerals & chalkiness, old tobacco leaf, black cherry cola, herbal notes, mint, eucalyptus used leather, dry crushed rocks, some rich dark soil, touch of cedar, waterfall acidity and leaner, long, ripe, elegant finish.

Perfectly balanced. Integrated. Much fruit. Many years to go

Mar 20th, 2018Starts out a little tight/astringent and lots of pyrizine.
Opens up in 20mins. Tannin becomes silky with French oak, ripe blackberry, black plum/cherries and tobacco. Solid finish mod acid
