This was a Costco find as I cruised through the wine area. I had never tried this producer and I figured it might be fun to try something new. Served with Italian Sausage, tomatoes, peppers and onion. The wine poured a deep ruby color with a near opaque core. On the nose, bright red cherries, dried herbs and some dry earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. There’s red rope licorice, dusty earth, dried herbs and just the faintest kiss of baking spice. It’s unmistakably Sangiovese and pretty high quality. The color was a little on the darker side and detected a little bit of barrique so I figured this was a little modern leaning. Sure enough, there’s a little bit of Cabernet and Merlot in the blend and each have seen some barrique. However, the bulk of the blend is Sangio aged in large Slavonian oak and the sense of place shines through. Drink now or over the next ten years.

One of my favorites. Very good chianti. Deep, spicy, with a ripe cherry, leather and oak.

Soft cherries and strawberry, dusty fruit character, subtle soy and peppercorn. Fresh and vibrant with bursts of acidity and well integrated tannins. Cherry and leather with limestone too on the palate. Nose softened with a little air. This is singing now and in a great place. Drink now with a splash decant. Brought back from the winery in 2016. First vintage of the wine.

V10. Very good. Soft cedar nose. Blackberry and anise fruit. Smooth leather, and mocha finish. Well rounded.
