What a generous wine. Blackberries, hibiscus, damp forest floor. Little tannic structure given its Barbera but pulls off a hat trick by not being too fruity but more old world & tense without acidity galore. B day dinner w friends, & went beautifully with grilled Chicken breast, aparagus, & potatoes

More structured and layered than the Vietti Barbera d’Asti. The 17 is still fairly tight - this could use more time. Nice fruit and breadth in mod-palate. Dark cherries and potting soil. Will try again tomorrow, see if it opens up.

The 2021 Barbera d'Alba Tre Vigne is a fabulous, explosive wine. Sumptuous dark cherry, ripe plum, mocha, licorice and new leather are all dialed up to the maximum. This racy, deep Barbera is tremendous. For its quality-to-price ratio, the Alba Tre Vigne might be the wine of the year at Vietti. $25.00 (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, February 2024)

This was full of bright red cherries supported by even brighter acid, a medium body, smooth but present tannins, and a meaty savoriness that reminded me of prosciutto--correct, delicious, and repeatable!
