Lazzarito Barolo Nebbiolo
Opened about an hour prior to service; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2017 “Lazzarito” pours a bright garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with ripe notes of mostly red fruit; Morello cherry, raspberry’s and absolutely loaded with alpine herbs, almost like Campari and roses. There is truffle, talcum powder, and some tar for good measure. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Among one of the better 2017 Barolo’s I’ve had. Drink now through 2042+.

Jan 1st, 2025So powerful from the nose through the long and juicy finish, beautifully resolved, round and delicate at the same time. Red flowers, vanilla-infused bright cherry, hints of asphalt. Savoury. In a perfect place after short decant.

Jun 22nd, 2022Tad green, olives. Plums. Mint. Leaner than Brunate and Cerequio. Nicely grippy.

Apr 28th, 2022From Serralunga area, aged in oak for 30 months, medium a Ruby with aromas of dark fruit, spice & leather notes. On the palate ripe black fruit flesh with blackberry preserves, citrus, earthy and spice notes. Nice soft tannic with fruit and oak finish, long ending with good structure and oaky forest floor character. Very nice, but pricy. Tasting Sample.

May 8th, 2018Refined and built around a structural core, which now is starting to ease; at least a little bit. Very precise in its red berry spectrum but it inviting you to explore other secondary nuances too. Beautifully constructed. 96+
