Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin
Vintage Brut Champagne Blend
Blend of 51% Pinot Noir, 34% Chardonnay and 15% Meunier, Golden straw color with aromas of stone and citrus fruits with notes of spice and nutty toast. On the palate flavors of ripe apple and pear with citrus tones and floral notes. Great balance, good bubble bead flow and mousse, lively acidity, long finish ending with crisp toasty mineral tones. A Fav!

Feb 1st, 2023Enjoyable but I couldn’t find anything about this that wowed me. Will revisit in a few years.

Jan 24th, 2022Tight, almost imperceptible mousse until this hits the tongue and the bubbles fill your mouth. Really long acids, though the fruit feels a bit primary at this point. With more time will probably be drinking really nicely. Very vinous.
Night two and this is really beautiful!

Another beautiful vintage from one of my favorite houses.
Medium gold with very pleasing perlage. Quite youthful with a bursting bouquet of pears, quince, and butter. A touch of apple and brioche.
Plenty of tension and drama here. Reminiscent of so many previous Veuve vintages, stately and refined. More precise and focused than in other years. Giving a definite Pinot profile with a medium body and a robust nature.
Plenty of fruit on the palate with cherries and raspberries initially. The citrus begins to creep in along with roasted nuts and toasted bread bread. Another outstanding champagne from Veuve.

Lemon zest, chalk, yeast/bread. Lots of acid but quite lovely!

Jun 17th, 2023Quite closed on the nose . Touches of citrus peel , mineral , chalky notes . After a while a bit honey and roast nuts . Quite strict acidity and body , streamlined . Quite mineral finish , ok length , a little pedestrian perhaps . Needs a little more time , best in 5 years or so , and enjoy over the next 10 years .
