Vallado
20 Years Old Tawny Port
Porto, Douro, Portugal

Toffee brandy, hot, singes the nose. But the palette is surprisingly soft, supple, creamy, dried fruit, a 180° from the aromas. Strong and long nutty roasted finish. Lots here. Long life.

Nutty and tasting like brandy. Still young.

May 13th, 2025Very fresh & enticing with fresh figs & mandarine peel in the forefront with some nutty toffee & melon caramel in the back and a pinch of black pepper.
On the palate this is nicely balanced with sweet raising fruit and a nutty, spicy finish. There’s a touch of tannins and good length.
The nose does promise more than the palate delivers and I’d love to have more depth & precision here, yet this remains a delicious after-dinner treat!

Discovered this port last year while visiting the Douro Valley. 2011 vintages hadn't been released yet. Bought this instead... Really enjoyed the smooth, nutty flavor.
