Palate is juicy with very fine tannins and lively cherry skin fruit on the attack and cherry juice on the finish. Really energetic and terrific ripe and velvety tannins. So pure and sappy. Long finish. Air will make this better but pretty awesome now.

Another truly superb 2016 Barbaresco. It’s a modern style, but has excellent balance. There’s a very generous core of surprisingly juicy cherry fruit here, but the tannins are ample and muscular. Glorious aromatics. This is a real winner.

Feb 14th, 2021Terrific nose. Floral, tar, roses, mint, tweed jacket, serious cherry, complex, so many different aromas, crazy spice. So good. Licorice. Amazing cherry flower with air. Sick. Palate had an abundance of fruit. Concentrated, sweet and so dense. Pure, clean and so textured. Amazing balance and so well made. Elegant, delicate and so so deep. This is a very good wine with terrific harmony. Shows off why 2016 is as good as it is. Long. Juicy. So so pure.
Update - after 4.5 hours this got that supernal balance very few wines get. 9.4 to 9.5.

Feb 18th, 2020What a nose. Soaring spice and cherries. Cigar, mint, tobacco, menthol leaf, terrific aromas and the palate is a stunner with ample 2013 fruit and opulent but also brisk with terrific acids. Really structured and dense with already great complexity. This is a rock star. Stunning.

All day roasted pork shoulder and Barbaresco? I married pretty well! Too bad this had to be 15%... It was showy at first, but I got tired of it and went back to Champagne.
