Hunter Valley Sémillon

Honeydew melon, bright citrus, medium acidity on the palate. Melon and citrus peel on the nose. Slightly oily texture with good minerality. Really nice and fun to drink.

Done in such a light style. Lime, bitter. A touch of quince. Very clear and lemongrass crystal. Medium light bodied with very little/no oak. It’s lean and racy, best drunk cold. Would be great aged. I enjoyed this.

Certified Ripper. The nerve and cut of this wine is remarkable. Very Old World sensibility. Bone dry at 11% ABV and daringly low pH. Racy, high-toned citrus pith aromas and laser-like focus on the entry. The “baby brother” to the Vat 1 Semillon, but it is walking and talking and showing a decidedly grown-up attitude.

Oct 25th, 2017Heaps of lemons, a little green apple, and a boatload of acidity. Still maintains a somewhat round mouthfeel, too.

Light golden color. Aromas of straw/hay, wet stones and Asian pear. Flavors of green melon, key lime, sour quince, beeswax, dried herbs and lemon zest. Touch of minerality on the lingering and quite refined finish. Mouth coating oily texture. Medium acidity and plush texture. Only 11% Alcohol. Quite unique and interesting. Solid QPR.

The nose is reminiscent of a SB with nice mix of citrus, tropical, and melon fruits with hint of hay. The initial entry feels like a Chablis that’s acidic and steely, but the body gains weight in the glass and there is hint of sweetness and white floral toward the finish.
Not much experience with 100% Semillon, but this is very nice.
