The bottle felt like it weighed a ton and telegraphed a big heavy wine. Which it was, but not as overbearing as I was expecting. Not something I would seek out again but well made

Sipping Fine Wine

I met Michael Twelftree and we were discussing his flagship Shiraz, Ares, representing the very best parcels in each vintage and is sselected through an intense barrel classification process. A big powerful wine with complex aromas. On the palate blackberry and ripe cherry flavors, smoky oak, great balance, fine tannins, lingering endind with fruit and oak. Has room to age. Very nice. Tasting Sample.

2012 might be the Best Yet. Having dinner with Michael T and 7 others on the intro to Ares new release! Awesome Juice. Big structure full bodied, rich with soft mouth filling tannins. I give this a strong 98+. CB

Two hands Ares 2009. Rich, coconut, faint olive, black cherry. Delightful finish. Deceptive alcohol.

Outstanding - menthol & chocolate with juniper berries in there somewhere - oak remains a silent partner
