Turnbull Wine Cellars
Estate Grown Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
Man, this wine is just as much a head-turner as I remember it being. One of the best under-the-radar buys coming out of Napa in my opinion. Nose has pronounced aromas of eucalyptus, cedar, spice box, coffee, and black cherry. Palate has rich black cherry, black currant, blueberry, and chocolate with some mineral overtones. A lovely long finish and a seductive mouthfeel make this a winner in my books. Bravo.

The blackberries and blueberries are dark, the oak a touch smokey, and the greenery has faded into an intoxicating licorice aroma. The tannins are smooth, but still make their presence known. The oak remains in check and simply gives the brighter flavors a stage to perform upon.

May 17th, 2015A very dense and concentrated wine with a herbal/blue fruit nose that must come from the clonal selection (?).
This pushes the limit for me but I could see other people being impressed by this.
