Trinchero Napa Valley
Mario's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here's a fantastic one from California.
Pretty color of dark ruby with a reddish rim.
Strong nose of blackberries, sweet cherries, black currants, dried figs, tobacco, cedar, leather, vanilla, licorice, spices, dark chocolates, coffee, cola and peppercorn. Great nose.
Full bodied, elegant and smooth, with medium acidity and fat legs.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, black cherries, raisins, toasted cedar, leather, vanilla, tobacco, licorice, chocolates, medium roasted coffee, coke, sweet spices and black pepper.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.
This is a wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Well balanced with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.
The nose is gorgeous and I just kept on smelling on it for a long time.
This 5 year old is drinking very nicely now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years and beyond.
Good right out of the bottle and better after 90 minutes of airtime.
This Single Vineyard Cabernet is just plain delicious. Tangy and interesting, rich yet elegant.
Aged for 20 months in French Oak barrels (70% new).
14.8% alcohol by volume.
93 points.
$50.

Young elegant not overly fruity in style. Maybe a touch restrained. Will take the others we have and move them to plus five years!

Jul 22nd, 2018With so few Napa Wines hitting the mark so surely, this folks is a TEXT BOOK example of how it's done right. Tasting this wine is a pure pleasure, it reminds me of a left bank Bordeaux. Lean where it should be, vivid acid taming abundant fruit and wonderfully stunning minerality. The structure of this wine could easily go another 10 years. Plums, cocoa dust, blackberries, cedar and dried underbrush. You can spend more, but you honestly won't get more! #winelover #wine

3 people found it helpfulMar 16th, 2015Excellent, well made Cabernet from a great winemaker, from a challenging vintage. Ripe cassis, black currant, ground coffee, and subtle dry earth notes abound. Tannins are still a bit tight even after lengthy decanting, but acid and alcohol are nicely balanced.

Jun 6th, 2015Great! It's got a front end licorice to plum taste that I'm not a fan of. But still very dry and tannic. It wouldn't be my first choice again.
