Réserve Alsace Muscat

Celebrating Bastille Day with the spring dinner of the Confrerie St Etienne of Alsace association. Wonderful menu and perfectly paired wines.

White wine of the evening! Trimbach is obviously a consistent producer, but I’d not had this Reserve muscat before. Great nose of honeycomb and pear preserves. Sharp acidity which kept it from going too sweet/flabby. Peach and white flower on the palate and finish. Spring in a bottle!

Pale lemon; medium intensity aromas of peach, sherbet, rose, grape; medium dry, medium acid, medium alcohol, medium body, medium intensity flavors of peach, rose

Green apple and pear, nutmeg, lemon. Lemon curd, lemongrass, lychees, dried ginger powder, pine and chalk.

The aroma is reminiscent more of gewurztraminer than of muscat in its usual incarnations - great, floral and a little spicy. Bone dry with moderately high acidity this paired beautifully with oysters. Surprisingly successful

Disappointing wine from one of my favorite producers. Very sulphur-y and when that finally blew off it wasn't as floral as expected. Pretty dull wine

Upon being first opened there was a serious kitty litter aroma and the orange blossom and flowers came through. Dry in style.

Nice aromas of honey, pear, and peach. Smooth with a medium acidity.

Floral and citrus notes on the nose. The palate is dry with citrus and mineral notes. This would pair well with seafood.
