An example of what I've been hoping to find in Montepulciano d'abruzzo. Clean, transparent, juicy fruit in a linear package with firm but never rustic tannin.

2013. More gravitas than the 2012. Floral aromatics give way to red fruit salad. A sip is dense and sappy. There's a lot of wine in this bottle.

A pricier montepulciano (>$20) and boy, it was woodier than I’d expect. Lots of vanilla, oak, and tobacco. Up front it tasted really cedary. After it opened up a bit, current and raspberry comes thru. Full bodied, tannic, very dry, almost like a California cab. Not a bad wine, just not what I’d expect.

Ripe, juicy fruit, big and bold, grippy and vibrant, some rough edges but really good.

Well worthwhile. Dark, full bodied. Could be a like smoother and drier.

Bright cherry with slight fizz on the finish. Perfect with a slight chill, on its own or with a farm to table meal. Drink it now, drink it when you can and save a bottle for those days when you deserve it.
