Fair amount of Brett in this GSM. It’s not making it undrinkable but it’s definitely detracting. Underneath there is some nice, sultry berry ooze fruit on the nose, and some warm gravel. I like the physical parameters in the mouth: soft, medium-full body, good concentration, very nice acids. The fruit is nowhere near jammy, which I appreciate, and there are nice savory elements as well. I just wish the Brett weren’t there.

If you had to pick a wine that somehow managed to capture the zeitgeist of what deliciousness means today, this little beauty would be a candidate for sure. Forest berries, Rosemary, juniper, cedar and sour cherries all crunchy with crystalline acidity and a dusting of tannins. A fantastic, yes, even exotic, blend of Grenache Noir, Cinsault, Grenache Gris, Mourvèdre, and Syrah from vineyards across the Western Cape of South Africa. 2018 Thorne & Daughters “Wanderer’s Heart” Cape Red Blend. Stunner.

The 2017 Thorne & Daughter Wanderer’s Heart is; 59% Grenache, 19% Grenache Noir, 33% Cinsault and 8% Mourvèdre.

The nose reveals; beautiful red & blue floral fruits. Blueberries, dark cherries, blueberries, plum & poached strawberries. Touch of black licorice, cola, vanilla, dark rich soils, crushed dry rocks, steeped fruit tea with bright, dark, red and blue flowers.

The body is medium. Its mouthfeel reminds me of the light styles that can come out of Burgundy. The wine is delicious. Blueberries, dark cherries, blueberries, plum & poached strawberries. Touch of black licorice, cola, vanilla, dark rich soils, crushed dry rocks, powdery chalkiness, grainy volcanic minerals, rich dark soils, steeped fruit tea with bright, dark, red and blue flowers. The acidity is amazing. The finish is well balanced, ripe floral, juicy with some dry tannins and minerals on the long set.

Wonderful, dark dry GCM. Nice acidity on a lighter body. Sub this in for Pinot Noir...you won’t be sorry.

Easy going and ever so enjoyable to drink. Red fruit is in the foreground with floral and some spicy notes backing it up. Balanced with a good structure and length. Some earthy complexity is developing in the glass which stimulates the more serious wine drinker.

A little thin. Will try again with different vintage. 46% Syrah, 32% Grenache Noir, 18% Mourvèdre, 4% Carignan.

Nice. In situ. Best on the menu. A ripe young wine. A little out of balance - like the region. Nice on the patio. B’sorot tovot

Wow! Wonderful GSM - light but structured and complex. Spice that satisfies the palate but doesn’t overwhelm the food. Agree with all of the Somme’s reviews below - sub this for a Pinot anyway! *note to self for wine shop, BUY AGAIN!

This Covid has enabled me to experience new parts of the world......in wine.

This is a gem of a blended red from South Africa.

Sweet cranberry aroma and very light tannins.

Oh so easy to drink and enjoy.
