Solid shiraz. Dense deep and polished. Classic spice with sticky rich black fruit and great chocolate notes. Wonderfully straddles the line between over the top and balanced.

Unfortunately, this 2002 was either past its prime, or it was not made to cellar this long, as the sweaty horse/barnyard smell and taste has overtaken it. It has the remnants of that taste in this '12. Nice wine, but missing the yumminess. The acidity is sharp, knocking the balance off. The tannins are fairly smooth. The finish is incredible, if only the overall flavors were slightly improved. Does well with strong foods.
