The Eyrie Vineyards
Oregon Chardonnay
Intense and complex aromatics with roasted hazelnuts, washed cheese rind, and flinty minerality. Silky yet finely structured palate. Outstanding now at age 7 but has room to further improve for another ten or more years.

Dec 25th, 2021Very pale straw in the glass. Quite aromatic initially showing peaches and nectarines and lemon curd. More subdued after some air, with an ever so slight touch of oak, and oyster shell. Very sotto voce

Dec 18th, 2020Solid stuff and still pretty early on the aging curve. Stashing a few of these away for a while will likely pay big dividends as can often be the case with Eyrie.

Nov 15th, 2015A wine to end all arguments. From the Eyrie cellar; re-corked and released 2013. Jason Lett told me this was the best Chardonnay they've ever made. I would counter and say this is one of the best Chardonnays ever made in this continent. I will never forget this bottle.

May 17th, 2015Rainwater, lemon peel, minerals, pomelo. Nice light aromas.
Wanted something a bit more chewy on the white side that wasn’t a dry Riesling or Sancerre or a Chenin, so I went with a tried and true Chardonnay that doesn’t rely on oak treatment like a mamma’s boy.
Originally turned off by those Chardonnay’s, it’s been a while since I ventured out to this varietal again. Glad I did.
Well-rounded, balanced, slight effervescence, acidity doesn’t fall off, full and dry at once. Refreshing and savory. Wonderful. Love to be proved wrong. I always went the Chablis route, but this bottle proves to be a ballet on the palate.
